The Dundee Drugs Commission is an independent group of experts tasked by the Dundee Partnership with considering what more can be done to turn around the rate of drug deaths in Dundee. In this seminar, members of the Commission will provide their views on the causes and consequences of drug deaths in Dundee and what can be done to address the problem in Dundee and elsewhere in Scotland.
The seminar was chaired by Lewis Macdonald MSP and featured members of the Dundee Drugs Commission Dr Robert Peat (Chair, Former Director of Inspection, Care Inspectorate and former Depute Chief Executive and Director of Social Work and Health with Angus Council) and Suzie Mertes (Superintendent, Police Scotland).

How will Artificial Intelligence affect our lives? How should we respond?
In conjunction with Reform Scotland, the Futures Forum held a seminar with writer and journalist Tom Chivers to discuss how artificial intelligence is developing and changing our lives and the way we should approach it as citizens and how the Scottish Parliament can respond as a legislature.
Tom worked for the Daily Telegraph from 2007 to 2014, and was a science writer at BuzzFeed UK from 2015 to 2018. He has received several awards for his journalism, including the ‘Explaining the facts’ category in the Royal Statistical Society’s Statistical Excellence in Journalism awards, and he is the author of the recent book “The AI Does Not Hate You”.

The World Press Photo exhibition has returned to the Scottish Parliament, and we're speaking with the curator of the exhibition and one of this year's winning photojournalists.
Yi Wen Hsia is an Exhibitions Manager and Curator at World Press Photo. She has been working at World Press Photo since 2016, and Olivia Harris is a British documentary photographer and filmmaker, based in London.

We’ll be hosting the exhibition between in Parliament from 31st July to Saturday 24th August 2019 (closed on Sundays) from 10am – 5pm, and entry is free.
