World Press Photo 2019

The World Press Photo exhibition has returned to the Scottish Parliament, and we're speaking with the curator of the exhibition and one of this year's winning photojournalists.

Yi Wen Hsia is an Exhibitions Manager and Curator at World Press Photo. She has been working at World Press Photo since 2016, and Olivia Harris is a British documentary photographer and filmmaker, based in London.

We’ll be hosting the exhibition between in Parliament from 31st July to Saturday 24th August 2019 (closed on Sundays) from 10am – 5pm, and entry is free.

A Sustainable Future for Urban Scotland - Scotland's Futures Forum

What role is there for communities in the regeneration of urban Scotland?

Life in Scotland’s towns and cities is forecast to change significantly in the coming decades. Cities are set to continue to grow, facing the challenge of providing housing and services for new populations, while the role and place of towns in Scotland remains uncertain.

Women's participation in sport – and politics

The factors which stop young women getting involved in sport have been highlighted by a group taking part in a Scottish Parliament project aimed at increasing women’s participation in politics.

How these 100 Scottish women created a work of art

This episode explores the sculpture on display at the Scottish Parliament called 'Travelling the Distance'. It was created by artist Shauna McMullan but it contains the voices of many other contributors from across Scotland.

The artwork has been here since 2006, but this year, to celebrate the Parliament's 20th anniversary, it has been updated with new, interactive content that traces the full story of the making of the sculpture.
